Sam Wood, Campus Minister
Sam joined the Oshkosh Newman Center this August, bringing with him a wealth of experience in ministry. Formerly a protestant minister in the Oshkosh community from 1991 to 1996, Sam converted to the Catholic faith and came into the Church in November of 1996. While protestant, he began a spiritual odyssey searching for the “real Jesus Christ” untainted by diverse modern interpretations of Him. Searching Church history, especially the writings of the Early Church Fathers, Sam discovered the early Church to be startlingly Catholic: the fullness of Jesus Christ lay in the truth and beauty of the Catholic faith. An enthusiastic communicator, Sam shares his pastoral heart with those under his care so that they too, may discover the matchless love Jesus Christ has for them.
Sam earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Trinity International University, and his Master’s Degree in Historical Theology from Marquette University. He is married to his lovely wife Kristine, has two sons, Benjamin and Bryan, a beautiful daughter in law, Lena, and has two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jacob. He also has a dog named Cassie, a lovable lab who knows how to whisper! Come on in and meet him!

“Man most fully discovers himself only through a sincere gift of himself” (Gaudium et Spes). As a Catholic priest, I have come to know this in a very real way.
Priesthood has afforded me many opportunities to make a gift of myself. It has been through this sincere gift that my life has become animated in such a way that I am compelled to share the Gospel message. Being a priest has given me a glimpse of the human capacity to love and the victory of sin over death. The most edifying gift of priesthood has been the celebration of the holy sacrifice of the Mass. The Holy Eucharist is the greatest gift given to the world and as a priest, you are called by God to bring Jesus Christ to the world through simple gifts of bread and wine, gifts that become the body and blood of Christ.
I challenge you to discover yourself by making a gift of yourself. Men are called by God to lay down their lives as Christ layed down His life. Priesthood is a great gift to the world and I encourage you to discover it for yourself!
I look forward to hearing from you!

Praise the Lord! My name is Jenny Johns and I am the new Administrative Assistant. I am super pumped to respond to the grace and invitation of our Lord to accept this mission to serve the students of UW Oshkosh.
What a beautiful opportunity for myself to come back to the roots of my own conversion. You see, I am an alumni of UWO and it was at the Newman Center that I discovered the love and mercy of Christ and that He had a profound purpose in my life.
I LOVE being at the Newman Center and I LOVE being Catholic! Swing on by for lunch, coffee, prayer…I’d love to get see what the Lord is up to in your Life…until then we shall meet in the Eucharist!
